I was going to post this under bug requests but it seems your server is down .

When starting up after effects the composition window will not update/refresh etc.

My system specs:

OS: Windows 10 Pro

CPU: Intel i7-8700k 3.7GHz

Ram: 64gb

Video Card: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

AE 2018

OS, AE, CC, Drivers are all up to date.

As stated in the post, I'm running dual monitors. I typically have my comp window set up in my 2nd monitor and have been using this setup for years now without problems.

THE FIX: is to start up AE with the comp window on your main monitor and move your comp window over each time you start up After Effects. This isn't a big deal to do if you know the fix but a big pain in the ass if you're trouble-shooting.

This is a post for anyone dealing with the same issue and a note to Adobe to fix this bug (as stated above, your bug tracker link is not working).

Two things:

***Have you tried enabling Mercury Transmit in the Video Preview Preferences?

Go to Edit > Preferences > Video Preview.

In the Video Device list, leave Adobe Monitor 1 disabled and enable Adobe Monitor 2, then click OK.  I like to enable "Disable video output when in the background" as well for when I tab out of AE.

***Have you tried saving as Workspace?

Set up AE just as you'd like the Window and panels to be arranged and then choose Window > Workspaces > Save as New Workspace....

Once you've created the Workspace, you can choose Window > Assign Keyboard Shortcut to Workspace so that you ideal setup is never more than a keypress away.

If you go into Edit Workspaces (Window > Workspaces > Edit Workspaces) you can drag saved Workspaces up to the "Bar" section, creating a button for the Workspace that can be clicked at any time.
