Check out this plugin called "Boa" on AE scripts

For the work I do this is pretty awesome.

From the folks who did Mask Avenger.

It pretty much lets you have any layer deform to a mask path & be animated.

It's like the Trim Paths function for any layer with vertex based scaling and zDepth,

    I've had fun with it and used it on a couple of projects already. BAO makes some pretty good tools. Mask Avenger's functionality really should be native!

      I bought it immediately when I saw the update on Aescripts. even with no commercial use for it. I couldn't help it . already had good experience with avenger so I trusted the author.
