How can I convert a after effects project file to a windows 10 composition

Hi, I am not very educated on after effects and project files, however I have a school project that requires a edit and they want me to use windows 10. I have all the transitions nessicary and my friend who uses after effects sent me a project file to use, is it possible to get it on windows 10? please help!

As long as the version of After Effects on the Windows 10 machine is a little newer or the same version as the version used to create the file you will have no problem opening it. If you are getting errors then check the versions of AE.

If you are not modifying the project file then your friend needs to send you a rendered file you can use in the software you are using on the machine you have.

If you are passing off your friend's work as your own I hope you give him credit.
