Question

How to apply a gradient to a group of paths which are using trim paths

Hi,

I have a group of paths which requires a unified gradient over the whole group, the paths were created in illustrator but have been converted to shapes for the purpose of trim paths.

Currently, I have achieved the effect required by using multiple feathered masks of the composition to emulate a true gradient, however, the final needs to be exported using body moving which does not support feathered masks.

That pretty much looks like a radial gradient. I would open up the shape layer, delete all strokes and fills for all of the contents, add trim paths at the bottom and add a gradient stroke set to radial. You'll get this on a single layer:

If you need a more complex gradient you can add more than one and blend them like this:

The trick is to simplify the shape layer as much as possible by removing all unneeded shapes and strokes. You can put all strokes and fills below trim paths. If Body Moving will support gradient fills on strokes you should be OK.
