Newbie here. I want to create a water ripple in AE in a perspective view. Something like you are looking at it at an angle (see image 1). Unfortunately, the ripple effect in AE can't be set to an angle...it's always top view (see image 2).

How can I achieve an angled ripple like in image 1? Thanks!

I had a quick look and can't find a good way of doing this in Ae...

There is a tutorial here that may help...  Liquid Water Waves Tutorial [no plugins] | After Effects CC - YouTube

Wave World also has a wireframe 3D mesh that you may be able to mess with fast blur, levels and other effects to fake it and remove the unwanted green grid and colours... but it doesn't look easy to get right.

If you want a true 3D option I've done ripples similar to this before in Blender... Blender Tutorial: How to Create Ripples Effect - YouTube
