How to export in Quicktime H.264 format?

New Here ,
Mar 20, 2017 Mar 20, 2017

I noticed that in the update on After Effects on my windows 10 machine I can no longer export in Quicktime H.264 format. I am able to do so on my macbook but it seems the H.264 option is missing in the format window. Can anyone help? Thanks

Hi Trevorb,

As stated by Roei Tzoref, Queue the compositions to Media Encoder & choose the required format of export.

Exporting from After Effects with the Adobe Media encoder

Thanks,

Don't use this codec. it's old, buggy and produces poor results in compression and size. instead use AME for you mp4 exports.

@trevor

As of now Adobe has pretty much nerfd their CC. It would have to be Rendered .MOV-Animation then onto a MAC computer which is double the work and double the harddrive space 😕

i would search at creativecow website for a more productive solution. There might be thirdparty addon you can dl for free or buy.

Adobe doesn't seem to realize that many clients of the people who rent their software do not care one bit why Adobe elected to deep-six many quicktime codecs.  These clients want files delivered to their specifications.  They SPECIFY QT's in Photo JPEG or H.264.

So what are renters of Adobe software forced to do?  Export high-quality versions of their work, which they then have to encode to their clients' delivery specifications.  What was once a one-step process now becomes a time-wasting, two-step process.

Adobe has actually made life harder for many of the people who rent their software.  You be sure to thank Adobe for their thoughtfulness.

Exactly! (I cried a little reading this)

Your paragraph should be the ‘Best Answer’ to all these adobe Media Encoding Thread!

In the meantime: (on Win10_64bit)
Uninstall CC 2018 -> throw in trashbin -> secure delete.
Install CC 2017 -> live happily ever after.

If you have an Adobe Account, do a google search to directly download CC 2017. This version allows you to use thirdparty codecs within the containers you prefer. The new CC 2018 does not.

Downgrading never looked so good!
