Importing ProRes into colour-managed compositions

For our pipeline we are rendering out image sequences from our 3D app (16bpc, sRGB) and bringing them into After Effects for compositing.

We are working in a colour-managed environment - 16bpc, sRGB 2.1 colourspace, and are utilising a linear workflow.

After a comp is completed, we are rendering them out to ProRes HQ, to be bought back into the edit for speed purposes.

When the ProRes rendered movies are bought back in, they are automatically assigned a Rec709 colour profile, with a gamma of 2.4.

This clearly doesnt look the same as the comp we originally rendered out as the gamma is different (sRGB 2.2). We would like to interpret the footage to use the same sRGB colour space we are working in throughout, however this option is greyed-out in the interpret footage - colour dialogue box.

Could someone explain to me why it's set up like this, and any help on what the correct workflow is in this environment would be a massive help!
