Question

loop work area

I would think there would be a loop icon just like Audition

so we can see the work area only to preview our effects.

I do see in the preview panel an option to confineplayback to the work area.  Is that really how we are

supposed to do that?  And then navigate back into

that dropdown menu to change that?  No buttons

or key commands?

thanks

you can assign different shortcuts for different playing behaviours. Spacebar can be assigned for playing all the comp. you can assign “0” for playing a range area based on your timeline’s begin and end points for playing only one time. and there are a lot of other options for sohrtcuts to set based on your needs.

You can select these option in the Preview Panel. Under Range select Work Area. As you can see in the attached image, you can associate different playback options to Shortcuts, so be sure to select your desired options.

yes, got that thank you, so there really is no loop button which would be better?

AE has so many buttons, but not that one, seems fundamental.

Loop button is in the right side. It is the default behaviour when playing. So the only thing you need to do is to change the range playback.
