Move Multiple Layers On Timeline, keep them in sequence in AE

This is probably a simple question, but I'm a newbie and do not think I know the terminology to search for it, so sorry if a post already exists with an answer.

All I want to do is move the starting point of multiple layers forward without changing the sequence of them.

For example...
I'm trying to add a composition that is a slide for a slideshow to the 20 second mark on the timeline, But then I want to move all of the layers above 20 seconds further down the timeline to a 40 second starting point without changing their sequences. But I don't know how to do that without doing one at a time. This will take forever if I do them one at a time and reset all the sequences

First, I tried to just drag them, but after I select them and try to drag, they become deselected.

I've tried several help posts I can find to do this, but it always changes the sequence. For example, I've tried these

  1. First I select all of the layers
  2. Then I  choose Animation >> Keyframe Assistant >> sequence layers
  3. The dialogue box pops up, I left overlap unchecked and hit ok, this failed to do anything
  4. Then I tried again, the dialogue box pops up and I checked overlap and tried all of the features, each time it changed the sequence of the layers

Next I tried another post I found and did this

  1. Moving the timeline indicators to where I wanted it
  2. Then I chose the option + open bracket key, it did not work
  3. After that failed, I just tried just the open bracket without the option button
  4. This just moved every layer to that starting point, removing the sequences I had.

All I'm doing is trying to add one simple slide into a slide show and move all the slides after it, but it appears like I'm going to have to sequence every layer again, which is hard to believe that there would not be a simple way of moving everything forward without changing the sequence order.

Put the timeline cursor at the point where you want to move your layers.

Select the layers you want to move from top layer to bottom layer.

Shift-drag the layers to the timeline cursor.  They'll snap to the position of the timeline cursor, maintaining their relative in-points to each other.

Every time I try that with the shift button with the layers already selected, it just creates a selection box.

In the screenshot you can see I have every layer but the bottom one selected. I also have the timeline cursor moved to the 40 second point. Am I missing something?
