roto brush tool causing "missing data 33:4" error in AE 17.0.1 [Windows]

I spent the afternoon rotobrushing footage for a video, froze the rendered result, saved the file, quit After Effects, then when I opened the file the next day I received a "Missing data 33:4" error, which basically means I'm outta options. The auto saves that contained any rotobrushing work also has a missing data error. Here's what I've tried:

  • Creating a new file with the same footage using roto brush- same result
  • Creating a new file with different footage using roto brush - same result
  • Tried the previous two with frozen rotobrsuh renders - same result
  • Created new file with same footage but no rotobrushing - file is OK

It appears there is a problem with the roto brushing tool. Here are my specs:

Windows 10 Pro (1803), After Effects 17.0.1 (Build 52).

Please help as I have a project that requires some rotoscoping!

Hi all,

Thanks for your patience! 🙂

We have released a new update for After Effects with a fix for the error 33:4 while opening the project. We would recommend you to update to version 17.0.2 and then check if the issue reoccurs. Check out this article to know more: https://helpx.adobe.com/after-effects/kb/fixed-issues.html

We're here to help.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for reaching out. We have observed error 33::4 as a known issue with After Effects 17.0.1 version.

We have informed our engineering team about it. We'd recommend you using AE 17.0 version till further information.

We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks,

Shivangi
