Weird jerky echo audio problem - preview and render

Hi guys,

Got an audio problem wrecking a film. This both in preview and after rendering with Media Encoder. Tried replacing, moving and selectively turning off layers, but no joy. It seems to something underlying. Any clues? Need to publish by 20 June.

After Effects doesn't like compressed audio.  I see you're using audio from mp4 files, and they could be the culprit.  I would do an audio-only export from those mp4's, saving them as wav files, and just turn the audio off on the video clips.  See if it helps.

Thanks Dave. It is the WAV files that are causing me grief. Any other suggestions. It is very strange and only affecting this one comp, despite the same audio file being used in 6 others without problems. Thanks in advance! Jack

Without exact technical info about the files, previews settings, audio preferences etc. Nobody can tell you much. that being said, your project stats "used 4 times" for the selected audio file, so chances are you are simply seeing some overlap from multiple uses in pre-comps or whatever with the answer being then to turn off extraneaous uses of audio in those places.

True, comps are reused a lot. To eliminate this, I duplicated the offending WAV file, gave it a different name and dropped it in. Same exact problem. The WAV is used in 6 other films without problem. Any other suggestions? WAV is available here (56mbs). Happy to provide any other details you need.

Hi Kevin,

Only just seen this because for some reason emails from this forum are not getting through to my gmail account. I solved it, but I'm afraid I don't recall how. I have a feeling it wasn't a fault with AE, or if it was, it required untangling multiple imported precomps, so a niche issue perhaps. I've moved over to Premier for such projects now.
