Adobe Animate CC lagging

New Here ,
May 05, 2017 May 05, 2017

Whenever I undo, switch between eraser and brush, or use a long stroke, Animate lags really bad and will sometimes freeze and crash. I'm new to the program, so I don't know how to troubleshoot the issue and I haven't found anything online. I'm using a Turcom TS - 6610 for drawing, but I don't think this is the issue because even if I use hotkeys on my keyboard Animate lags all the same.

Any and all help appreciated.

reset your preferences by removing

Win:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Animate CC 2017\ and

C\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Animate\2017\

Mac:

/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Animate CC 2017/ and

I got as far as <User Name>.  There is no library folder in my User folder.   Anything else?

On Mac you can use ~ as a shortcut to get to your User folder. The Library folder in there is hidden, but you don't need to stop at that point, you can go straight for the folder you want.

In Finder, choose the Go menu, and Go to Folder... Copy and paste in this text into the dialog you're shown:

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Animate CC 2017/

That's if you're using Animate CC 2017, if you're on 2018 it would be:

~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Animate CC 2018/

The other folder kglad mentioned can be got to in the same way, with this path:

~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Animate/2017/

or:

~/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Animate/2018/

Deleting the "Animate CC 2017" folder from the first link, and the "2017" folder from the second link, will mean that Animate start up again as if it's the first time you've used it. You will for example have to do a Sync to get your settings back from Creative Cloud.

Thanks for the reply.  I followed all the steps, but to no avail.  I'm wondering if it has something to do with my older mac or my older Wacom tablet.  Think you could take a look?

My mac is a mid 2010 Mac Pro on High Sierra v.10.13.3
Processor:  2x2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
Memory:  12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

Graphic Card:  ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB

My Tablet is an Intuos 3 with the most recent drivers installed.

If there's anything else you can suggest, I'd appreciate it.  This CC lag is a maddening bottleneck.

What are your computer specs? You might not have a powerful enough computer to run it.

Here are System requirements for Adobe Animate CC

message 1 contains the preference locations though there are obvious changes you'll need to apply depending on your username and animate version.

no.  it would be the folder in those locations.

if in doubt (and you should always be cautious and doubt), rename instead of delete.

Updated Animate today 12-Feb-2020 ( Version 20.0.2 (Build 22168)).

Seriousily lagging when clicking play in editing mode.  Audio playing normally, visuals and timeline playback lag extremely slowly.

Computer specs have been were highly optimised from standard iMac specs so it shouldn't have this lag.  Adobe please review this lag.
