Ai layers not translating to Animate layers

I have done a handful of banner ad projects using Animate now. I have never had the problem I'm experiencing now.

I have individual layers in Ai that I want to be layers in Animate, as per usual. However, when I "import to stage", all AI layers that I select to import as separate Animate layers import onto one layer. I have to manually cut/paste each element to its own Animate layer OR import them one-by-one.

In the past, my layers would import perfectly into Animate exactly how I had set them up.

What could have changed?

Hi.

How are you importing your AI files? Because I just run a test here and it is working fine.

But, if you still cannot import into separate layers, what you can do is to select the imported artwork, and press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + D and distritbute the individual objects to layers. You may have to break apart (Ctrl/Cmd + B) or ungroup (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + G) before distributing the way you want.

JC

Just as I always have, I "import to stage" my AI file by selecting the layers I want to convert to Animate layers.

They import layered BUT in one Animate layer. I've worked around this as described in my post, but I really need to learn why this is happening so I can fix it.

I think Preran's message should give you an idea.

Did you try to use the Distribute to Layers feature I suggested?

And are your layers using filters or any other kind or special feature? It may cause limitations and problems when importing.
