animate 2019 won't even open?

I have gone through all the troubleshooting supplied here on the forums and I cannot get Animate to open still. It launches and goes through the splash screen to the UI then just closes with no error. I'm gutted, I've tried all the fixes I could find on the forums here and it still won't launch 😕😕 super frustrated.

did you successfully reset your preferences?

I don't really know what that means, and this is the first time it's been installed or attempted to be used. I shouldn't need to reset anything.
