Animate 2021 unable to export into anything other than Quicktime

Hi All,

Some computers on the site that I work at are getting a strange error, whenever anyone tries to export an animation as anything other than a Quicktime file they are met with the message 'Install the latest version of Adobe Media Encoder and restart animate to export using this preset'.

We have attempted to update the media encoder to the latest version but this seems to have had no effect.

We are using Animate 2021 due to our machines not being powerful enough to run a newer version and this was working fine for a while, however now it would seem we can only export files as .MOV and we are also getting an issue whereby if we uninstall animate 2021 and attempt to reinstall it, it will no longer install - I am half wondering as to whether this is just due to the underwhelming power of our machines but all the other Creative Cloud apps appear to be working fine, with no issues whatsoever and likewise we are still able to uninstall and reinstall the CC app.

Any help, or suggestions would be much appreciated - Thank you!.

This is the message that appears if I try to do a 'Quick share and publish' to YouTube:

It would seem that we have found a fix, which I shall explain below just incase anyone else gets the same issue:

To resolve this issue, we had to firstly uninstall Animate 2021 as it would seem that the version of Adobe Media Encoder (15.4.2) that is needed for this version of animate is no longer supported due to a security vulnerability .

Next, we had to install Animate 2022, which luckily still works on our aging hardware.

Once Animate 2022 was installed, we had to install Adobe Media Encoder 2022 (Both of which we downloaded from the Adobe admin console).

Now, with both of these installed we tested to see if it would allow us to export to .MP4 as opposed to .MOV and it worked!.

Thank you @MrMoxo for your suggestions.

I hope that this post is useful, should anyone else encounter a similar error.

Hi,

Maybe you can try to install the same version of Media Encoder than Animate ?

Like Animate 2021 -> Media encoder 2021 ? The latest version of Media Encoder is maybe too recent for your version of Animate.

Hi,

Thank you for the suggestion, I did consider this but I was unable to find where to download an older version of the media encoder from.  Please could you point me in the right direction? - Thanks!. 🙂

On the Creative Cloud App, under "Application", under the name of the App, you got three dots which you can click to access older versions

Hi,

Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to find an option for the older version, this is what I can see:
