Thank you for the information.
But it seems to me that they will not give us any information this year,
it feels like they are just stalling to close the year. And then the new annual billing,
and only then will they tell us anything.
I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like they not only screwed us with the updates, but they want to screw us. ))

there's no billing-reason for the delay because different users have different renewal dates.

Can't imagine it's good news, I don't know why they would need approval if the response was "everything's fine and we're still working on Animate as usual".

Very fair point.

Given Adobe's previous behaviours, it's highly unlikely that any news regarding Animate would be good at all.

I can't really remain too hopeful given how long they're taking just to respond at all.

I'm also doubting good news from Adobe.... Best thing we can do at this point is to keep this thread alive.

One step to confirm to work in development? When 2025 version?

Hello there,
I'm following this discussion with a lot of attention because I've been using Animate for many years, and I'm worried to imagine that this great software could stop tomorrow...
I'm starting to look into alternatives (Toon Boom, TV Paint ?), but until Animate is officially discontinued, I'm still hoping. I also just saw the small security update, a very slim hope for the still effective development of Animate.

🥹 too beautifuyl to be true

Now that we are dreaming, can you imagine it comes JUST with one major feature: All Bugs Fixed

(BTW why Character Animator is still in development!? cartoon AI filters would surpass CA obsolete technology as soon as GPU could do the render locally.)

Fingers crossed!
I personnaly don't have big bugs for my work, so what I'd like is just a confirmation that Adobe is still developping Animate!

i'm not sure a new splash screen means continued animate development, but it's not a bad sign.

I checked the date on the header image for that article: 23 October. With the lead time on such a project, I'd imagine the design brief was given a longer time ago, and since marketing and development streams work independently,  I'd wager a bet that that article means absolutely nothing in regard to Animate's continued development chances.

With Adobe's management's history and past behaviour/events with sidelining and shelving their previous products in mind, though? Very telling, and matches the current events and communication blackout surrounding Animate.

Animate is on the chopping block. It's over.

Sorry for the late reply!!

Again, I highly doubt a bug fix for the latest version would confirm another version being developed.

This constant silence, followed by the fact that the blog post w/ the new Animate splash screen was posted months ago, followed by the fact that they need approval to even send a message regarding the software has set the writing on the wall as far as I see it.

The way I'm looking at it, Adobe Animate (Flash) is now discontinued.

This makes me absolutely furious simply because of just how many people use Animate as compared to other discontinued Adobe programs. I'm especially furious considering the fact that Adobe has essentially let the software rot since about late 2019. And by the way things are looking right now, I have a feeling that any program that can't support AI will also be on the chopping block all because Adobe would rather earn a profit than keep software they see as liabilities around. (Animate is no doubt seen as a liability, especially considering it's long been ditched in favour of Toon Boom as the industry standard)

I'm hoping that the FLA format goes more open source (or that someone at the very least recompiles it) so that people can transition away from it as soon as it gets discontinued, because again, the effects of Animate's discontinuation could be devastating if the only way to transition is to painstakingly port everything to the file formats of programs like OpenToonz, Moho, or Toon Boom.

I'm very worried for what's to come of all of this.

Haven't seen any updates yet, though I don't even know where they would mention something -- here in the Animate Community?  On the Adobe Blog?  On the Animate page of the website? (They haven't even updated the "What's New" or "Fixed Issues" pages for over a year, leaving all of the bug fixes for 24.0.x undocumented.)

Not looking great, though with them skipping the 2025 release window along side all of the other apps, I didn't think we'd be getting good news in general.  And especially with the fourth-quarter earnings hype from Adobe last week, I'd imagine it'd be tough to get approval to drop some bad news in the midst of that right now.

I'm hoping at the very least it's just been put into a "maintenance mode" like Dreamweaver, which gets bug fixes every year or two, rather than being removed from Creative Cloud entirely.  Especially as a game developer relying on vector graphics within MovieClips using timeline animations, I don't know of any other way to create those sorts of assets without having Animate to output SWF and SWC libraries for the games.

Dear Santa, I've been very good this year, and I'd like to see my favorite tool, Adobe Animate, updated to 2025 and not be full of bugs.

As jolly as Santa is, there are some things even Santa may not be able to fix.

Only time will tell.

I got bug fix 24.0.7 so glad to see that.  If Adobe Animate does get updated for 2025 somethings I would certainly like to see is that they continue to make Animate look more like Illustrator and integrate some of the AI features that they have been adding to Photoshop and Illustrator and maybe update the History panel so that it acts more like the the ones in Photoshop and Illustrator. Adding of  more filter effects and 3D like features would be good and some integration more with Character Animator. I certainly enjoy using it for creating my GIF and MP4 animations as I have more control in the Appilcation with the Timeline than in Photoshop for the more cartoon like illustrations.

@HUnknown1Even IF Adobe would continue to develop Animate, implementing those features you mention would take years based on the last few years' development "speed".

And instead of adding a lot of AI stuff (which most artists detest and it would drive them away from Animate) it would be critical to first fix all the broken half-baked stuff first.

No: it is obvious by now that Animate is done and over with.
