Will there be no update for Animate this year?

@default4mciqkld69ivdid that, not me.
I didn't link the Illustrator video at all. I'm equally as confused as to why anyone would post such a video on an Animate thread.

Would like to mention that we have done about 1000 updates to ZIM over the last 10 years - many very exciting. ZIM is a JavaScript Canvas framework https://zimjs.com that is built on CreateJS which is what Adobe Animate exports to. So basically, everything that ZIM can do can be used in the code window using ZIM Shim template for Animate. See https://zimjs.com/animate for information and 30 tutorials. Sorry this is not a message from Adobe... but perhaps you will find it the next best thing!

Looking at this thread, I feel like we need to start an official petition asking Adobe to not give up on Animate and I'm sure if it really got out there, we would have a couple hundred thousand people from all over the world. The only thing is, how can this be done? Is there a way to get serious petitions going?

not really, but you might feel better making an adobe suggestion.
for applicable apps, use https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/x-productkb/global/how-to-user-voice.html
for others, use https://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html

Petitions never influenced any of Adobe's decisions. Freehand, AdobeXD, Adobe CC subscriptions, ...
No effect whatsoever.
Well, not entirely true that last statement: with Freehand the community's "leaders" did get a live meeting, but in the end it was a big "Sorry, but no sorry".
Save your breath. Adobe management does as Adobe management wants.

Petitions only achieve their goals when initiated by an astroturfed organization and align with the desires for change of the actual power structure.

You are right. It was wishiful thinking on my part for sure.

In the absence of an effective channel, Luigi will come to the rescue!

This sucks. For over 25 years, Flash/Animate has been the go-to tool for animators, powering everything from those early internet cartoons to legit massive TV shows. It’s got history, a massive fan base, and so much potential. It doesn’t deserve to be left to rot.
Adobe’s not likely to sell it off, either. There’s got too much proprietary stuff baked into it, and Adobe doesn’t exactly have a track record of letting go of its big apps. So, instead of giving Animate the love it needs or passing it on to someone who will, they’re just letting it die a slow, quiet death.
It’s a waste, plain and simple. Animate has been a huge part of so many people’s creative lives. It deserves better than this.

My first 2D animation work, I got it thanks to knowing how to use Flash 4!!!!
Your words could be confirmed by a considerable number of professionals, who have also been great promoters of the application.
