Will there be no update for Animate this year?

Commenting to say that ADOBE is a joke of a company. People are giving so much money for their products yet here we are, ONE whole year without a single update. Flash and Animate gave life to so many creators, I don't understand how the company that created this software can't see the potential of its own creation. Ridiculous stuff.

Perhaps a collective claim should be made about not complying with the AnÃmate update, and request a refund of the corresponding portion. Such an event would be reported in the specialized press.

Notwithstanding the good intent behind your post: once more history repeats itself here. As with other products being sidelined by Adobe and development stopped, users proposed the exact same legal actions, class action suits, etcetera etcetera.
It has never worked, and it never will (with Adobe). When Freehand was cancelled by Adobe, the Freehand community started legal action, and even had a in-person meeting with Adobe's management. In the end nothing could be/was done or resolved.
So while I understand the sentiment, history shows us that there is absolutely no point in trying. Been there, done that. Pointless.

I would still use Animate 2023 even if discontinued. Then, slowly migrate into Tumult Hype. Then to the Affinity suite and DaVinci Resolve. We would do that as educators, then the industry. I wish Adobe's stockholders are reading these forums.

LOL. Just like kglad said, Adobe cares 0%. Still, I can't believe they have everyone hanging like this.

not much anyone can do but wait, or move on to another publisher

Well... it depends on what you are looking for. If it is updates to the IDE then, yes, we have to wait, but if it is code updates, we have thousands as ZIM extends CreateJS which is what Animate outputs to! https://zimjs.com/animate including 50 components, dozens of controls to operated on clips like Emitter, Pack, Pages, Layout, Parallax, Book, Tile, MotionController, Physics, etc. Add you work to three.js as interactive textures, sockets, game module with LeaderBoard, isometric board, all sorts of conveniences like one line drag and drop, multiple hit tests. We just integrated the Flash BitmapData class into our version of CreateJS for easy coloring. We are very active and have been for the last 10 years. We are happy to help.

i'm not awaiting any updates, though it would be nice to be confident that animate will work decently on mac.

I don't even use Adobe Animate for personal projects; I much prefer a couple of the other 2D apps. But I have to use Animate at a couple of colleges where I teach, so it would be nice to know what's going on.

I have worked on multiple television shows that used Flash/Animate to rig and animate characters, and I know of several productions that are using Animate and are currently in progress - it's the main reason I subscribe to Adobe products. If they drop Animate I won't have any reason to continue my subscription.

I doubt Adobe cares at this moment, considering what we are seeing right now is the exact same pattern of behaviour that Adobe applied to previously discontinued software.
And besides, someone at Adobe apparently promised an update as early as November, but it is now April and at this rate, Animate is definitely looking to be discontinued. Sad, but I can't be too hopeful considering who we're dealing with at the moment.

Best thing we can do is keep the thread alive. I don't know if it will make a difference but it's better than doing nothing, cuz then that guarantees defeat.

this thread has no impact on adobe. if it has any usefulness, it's to keep everyone updated when things change.

I have to admit guys, every time I watch a video about Adobe After Effects, I feel a mix of frustration and ENVY. It’s honestly baffling to me how After Effects continues to receive MAJOR UPDATES, CONSTANT ATTENTION, and an ENDLESS STREAM of new features—many of which go FAR BEYOND its original purpose—while Adobe Animate seems to be slowly fading into obscurity.
What I don’t understand is WHY Adobe made such a clear decision to invest SO HEAVILY in AE while effectively abandoning Animate.
I’m comparing these two specifically because SO MANY of the features developed for After Effects could be SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATED into Animate. They wouldn’t even need to reinvent anything—JUST ADD THE SAME THINGS FROM AFTER EFFECTS.
Take the "Asset Warp tool", for example: it’s SIGNIFICANTLY more stable and BETTER IMPLEMENTED in After Effects, while in Animate it’s STILL RIDDLED WITH BUGS.
It’s frustrating as a professional who relies on Animate, because it feels like ALL THE INNOVATION is being funneled into one product, while the other is left to rot.
I’m not asking for miracles—JUST FEATURE PARITY. That alone would revolutionize the Animate experience.

Adobe acquired After Effects long before they acquired Animate (Flash). After Effects has always gotten the lion's share of development attention. Perhaps Adobe simply doesn't feel there's enough ROI in making Animate work better. There are far better 2D animation apps out there, but it is a shame that Adobe has apparently given up on Animate. I use several different 2D apps, but I'd still like Adobe to keep Animate alive and give it some love.

Hey Renee @ BU got it. I didn’t know AE had been around for that much longer. I think it’s kind of funny (well, tragic really) that even when it comes to compatibility, AE works smoothly with Adobe Illustrator. And when I saw that, all I could think was: DAMMIT, wasn’t Illustrator supposed to be some kind of competitor to Corel Draw? So why the HELL does it have better integration with After Effects than Animate?
Honestly, I should’ve seen it coming from little signs like this, Animate really is the neglected child. I get that Adobe already had AE and all, but would it have hurt to at least try to bring Animate into the fold a bit more? It’s such a beloved tool around the world and has such a rich history.
