When I try to publish, it just doesn't publish. In the destination folder it doesn't update. I have set up many other projects exactly the same and they work. It seems to do this intermittently. I can save the .fla file, no problem, but it won't publish. I'm using canvas/html 5. Please help!!
Looks like this bug has been fixed in the new version.

I have the same problem. Selecting "Publish" from the drop down menu" doesn't work when you are trying to save over a previously published animation. Likewise, selecting "Publish" from the Publish settings doesn't work.
The "Overwrite HTML files on publish" in the advanced tab is on, but that doesn't make any difference.
I manage to get around it by bringing up the Publish Settings and then selecting the Output name folder button, then choosing the animation to overwrite, then "OK", then confirming you want to overwrite, then Publishing.
It's a pain to do this every time you want to publish an animation, but I can't see another way around it until the bug is fixed.

I've got version 18.0.2 build 126, and I and my entire team have been having the same issue for months. Selecting any folder when attempting to publish does nothing to the file path displayed in "output name". We can try to type in the file path manually, but this almost always results in "folder not found". Strangely, choosing an output directory for a jpeg works perfectly. Just not the html/js files.

It looks like it's a problem with file length (when it exceeds a certain amount of characters for the directory structure) Try saving off your flash file with a shorter name and see if that works.
Once I saved my flash file off with a shorter name it exported out where I told it to. It would not work until I did this.
Hope this helps others
UPDATE: I just confirmed this. Your final Directory structure including spaces can not exceed 255 characters. Mine was 256 so I had to rename my file shorter by 1 character so it met the 255 character directory structure limit. This is a limitation with the OS you are using. Supposedly Windows 10 has gotten rid of this limitation. Prior OS will have this limitation.
Thanks,
Jason
