i don't know what you mean by D and C, but if mean you used two different fla file names, one of them should still open.
does it? if it does, immediately save with another new name to secure extra insurance to NOT lose all your work.
what publish settings are used in the saved file is irrelevant at this stage (of maintaining an uncorrupted fla).

does you fla still open?
if so, periodically save with increasing version number appended to the file name. eg, for project1.fla, save as project1_v000.fla, project1_v001.fla etc.
periodically close and reopend the latest version to confirm it's not corrupted. once confirmed, you can deleted earlier versions.
now, is animate running slowly for all flas?

Hi, What will this achieve saving in increments as opposed to just saving as A,B, C, D, E.....
its slow for this file... also keep getting a dialogue which cannot be closed

nothing. if you find it easier to use the alphabet, that's fine. (it is limiting to 26 versions, but obviously can be adapted to accomodate more.)
so, with which version did the problem begin? and importantly what is the last version to not have the problem?

then return to 2 versions previous so you have a clean fla.
then start edit towards the later versions, frequently saving with increased version name, closing and reopening to assure it's not problematic.
you can also try using a problematic version and undoing changes to return to a non-problematic version but that's less likely to be successful.

so uninstall and reinstall a previous version?

something just isnt right here...

you're not installing/uninstalling anything unless you have a problem with all fla files.
otherwise, you're using a fla that has none of the problems you've been displaying. that's the entire point of versioning.

You are getting confusing with your responses man. What would suggest in Leimans terms?

The file is no good so wasted 2 weeks. It is crashing someone else pc so now good.......

restart your work with the last fla version that had no problems.

Its been lagging for over a week. Do you want the file and see what happens for you?

no.
are you saying you have no recent fla files without problem?
if you had been saving versions correctly that would not be true.

My work mate has just loaded it with no issue with v22

But there is missing animations and items now!!!! any idea? can you somehow re-import
Copy link to clipboard

fla's saved before the problems started should have all the assets.

I will check tomorrow now but like I say... v23 and 22.8 of animate take 10 mins to load and crash alot so no good. V22 has loads of animation and assets missing so only hope it that a version between 22 and 22.8 of the software will load the scene and have the assets....

if you can't recover everything, and you're not too discouraged, start with the fla that's closest to complete and without problems and re-start your project from there. obviously, remembering to save versions frequently and close/reopen periocially to confirm you're working with an uncorrupted fla.

Yes I'll be doing this... but v23 and v22.8 are no goes... they are taking 10 mins to open and 100% cpu it's insane... even on my work colleagues 64gb ram it's the same

also, you do not need to use anything close to the latest version unless you're using some feature of it that's not in a version from a few years ago.

Fair enough. But ideally I want all my animation in tact... only hope is that v22.1-v22.7 works.... who knows. I'll try tomorrow

you know we've spent some much time exchanging posts i'm inclined to work on your file. if you're still interested in having someone else try, post a link to the fla you want checked.
