Question

Animate suddenly not exporting video/media

Everything was working fine, then suddenly when I try to export a video/media file to Media Encoder, the Encoder app launches, but doesn't receive the file from Animate. I'm exporting as H.264, but I've also tried as an MOV and MPEG4.

I tried to export directly to the desktop as an MOV file without using Media Encoder, but when I try to open it, I get a INCOMPATABLE WITH QUICKTIME message. Premeiere is also unable to open the file.

The only answers I saw about this on this forum was someone saying that theirs magically started working again.

Currently running:
Animate 23.01

Media Enconder 23.1 (build 81)

MacBook Pro OS Monterey 12.6.3

Thanks,

John

Ok. Just ran into this same issue and thought I'd chime in here with my solution(used kind of a little bit of everyone elses feedback).

Previously I had been able to export a MP4 of a 30s 300x600 banner ad. very simple classic tween animations. After I made some updates and changed some of the files I was importing to Animate from bitmapped to leaving the "import file as a single bitmapped image" box unchecked, I was unable to export the MP4. I too received the "AME failed to encode with the following exception: Type Error: null is not an object" error. and could also not export directly from Animate as MOV or MP4.

    Solutions I walked through.
I reinstalled an earlier version of Media Encoder V.23.4 (didn't fix it)
Restarted the machine and opened older version of Media Encoder THEN opened Animate(Still didn't fix)
Next I went to the library and deleted any files that were not being used which there were quite a few of (didn't fix)
After that I exported a MPEG4 direct from Animate(not using the publish icon) which did export a MPEG4 video.
I tried to export again again in Media Encoder I changed the preset from MPEG4 to H.264 and was able to export an MP4. I have been able to recreate this 2x now so I'm feeling good about this solve.

    Hope this helps!

i downloaded the fla and started export for h.264.  there weren't any apparent problems, but nothing appeared in ame.

i then checked your fla and saw over 1000 library items and can see from your stage this is going to be a computer resource demanding export.  deleting lots of those library items allowed me to export for h.264.  of course, your stage lost a lot of its assets.

i then went back to your orignal fla with all assets and chose export for mp4 and had no problem.

bottomline: i have 32 gb of ram and it may be that i don't have enough to export that h.264 video, but enough to handle mp4.  how much ram do you have?

I have 16 GB of Ram. Si I should export as MP4 as well? Format doesn't have to strictly be h.264. I assume all the library items are because this file was initially imported from an AI file?

try it.  you may not succeed because you have less ram than me.

i can send the mp4 to you if you want.

Hello,it may seem stupid, but i had a similar problem, and the fix was: Launch Media Encoder First and only after launch Adobe animate.

Ok! I was trying to say that the order that you open the programs can cause that behaviour. In my case solved it. I understood in the first answer that leaving it open didnt include closing and opening animate after.

open ame and leave it open.  then export from animate.

I have tried both leaving it open and letting Animate launch the program, but AME still doens't reveive the exported filed for some reason.

uninstall animate including preferences per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then do the same for ame.

    then reinstall both
