Animate Won't Create New Project Or Open CC Libraries

Whenever I open Animate and try to start a new project with the 'Create New' button, nothing happens. I click the button but no screens or windows pop up, it doesn't prompt me for canvas size or anything, just nothing. I can choose a template fine, but cannot create a new canvas using that button. I also cannot open my CC Libraries. Nothing shows up at all, not a loading wheel, not an error message, just blank. 

 

I've already:

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the app
  • Selected 'Exclude Simple Hostnames' in my network settings
  • Restarted the computer to see if that was it (it wasn't)
  • Relaunched the Creative Cloud App 
  • Checked to see if the hosts were set up properly (they are)

 

It's specifically Animate, the other apps work fine. 

 

I'm using Animate 2023 23.0.7 on a Macbook Pro, Big Sur 11.7.10.  I cannot update Animate, so that's not a solution

I have Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator, Media Encoder, Rush, InDesign, and Acrobat installed currently

then a clean install would be a burden,  but you decide:  skip to clean install:

 

reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:

Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R


if that fails, repair per https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-install-stuck.html


if that fails and you have windows, open your control panel > add/remove programs > cc desktop app > repair

if that fails, uninstall using the correct uninstaller from https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-mes... and then reinstall using*


if that fails, do a clean cc install carefully following each applicable step:

uninstall every cc app including preferences per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html

then uninstall the cc desktop app, again using the correct uninstaller per https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html#sa_src=web-mes...

clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html

check for, and if available, update your os

if windows is your os, repair all ms visual c++ versions that can be repaired (use google if you don't know how to do this)

if windows is your os update your ms visual c++, if it can be updated (use google if you don't know how to do this)

restart your computer (don't skip this)

reinstall the cc desktop app using the "alternative download links" at the bottom of the page at https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-desktop-app-download.html

use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials>

if that fails, you probably have a corrupt user account. google your os and how to create a new one.

Did you not stop to consider that:

- Reinstalling when oyu have several adobe apps messes up your preferences

- Some of us will not pay for these apps (Giving adobe money is a moral failure and I don't trust anyone who does) which complicates installing and reinstalling

- I straight up shouldn't have to reinstall just for the app to make a new file

same problem here, wanting to go back to an older version of animate because of the huge bugs in 24.0.7, I came back to 23 and like you I could no longer create a new project either with the cmd+N keyboard nor with the button.

I reinstalled 24.0.3, the button and the shortcut work again... but then I must have all the bugs of version 24.

So frustrating!

It looks like Adobe put kids in charge of Animate.

No need! the shortcut also works with version 24.

Sorry, maybe the Google translation translates my words incorrectly...

I said that on versions 23 that I was able to download on creative cloud, the File> New button no longer works, but on the other hand on versions 24 it works normally... I therefore said that I had to choose between 2 versions ( 23 and 24) which both have big bugs.

when you start v23 do you see the option to create new project, and can you create one from that opening screen?

create a custom v23 shortcut 

 

uninstall v23 AND opt to uninstall preferences, too

 

reinstall v23

 

see if your shortcut was reset

 

if it was, retry creating a new file

Yeah, I did exactly that but it didn't work, still the same problem.
Tomorrow I will try to return to Sonoma, the problem perhaps comes from a conflict with the Sequoias OS

This issue is not happening in Animate v23.0.4 and earlier.

We're seeing this issue in all versions from 23.0.5 to 23.0.10 on Mac OS 13.5.1, 15.2 and 15.3.1. We're also seeing that Publish Settings dialogue won't open.

We also had to go back to Animate 2023 because of the crashing problems with Animate 2024. I wonder if it's a compatibility issue with the shared Creative Cloud UI Helper or some other external process, because we didn't have these issues when Animate 2023 was the latest version.
