Animate wont open my file.

Every time I try to open it I get

"A JavaScript error occurred. In file "Publish.jsfl": Error: File (file directory)' could not be opened."

I think its because i made it too big perhaps (the file is 89.7MB)

I have already tried to convert it to a .rar and repair it, then back to .fla and open it,

but every time i do i get

"In file "Publish.jsfl":

Error: File '(file directory)' could not be opened.

Could not load scene into memory. Your document may be damaged."

I want a way to fix this and continue working on it cause I'm not going back to the

latest RECOVERY file that's short a couple hundred frames from the original.

Also I copied the files multiple times to make backups, but none of them will open

I'm tired of Adobe damaging my files, this isn't the first time.

Thanks.

Is there any way to fix a corrupt .fla?

just the way you've already tried by renaming to a rar > repairing > renaming to a fla.

but you can prevent the problem in the future by saving fla's with new names.  i append a version number.  eg, for a project1.fla > project1_v001.fla,project1_v002.fla etc.  i created a jsfl file and added it to my commands directory and created a shortcut so i just click ctrl-shift-s to automate that save process with a next version number.

    hi,

i have flas many times that size and have no problem.  jsfl errors used to occur with an older animate version (which was patched with this How to avoid ‘out of memory’ javascript error on publishing HTML5 Canvas doc in Flash Pro CC | Hemanth Kumar R ) and then fixed in subsequent versions.

what version of animate are you using?

other fla files open ok?  if so, your fla is corrupt.
