Audio not playing in timeline or library

I have this odd and annoying bug where my sound files won't play in the timeline. I'm running on ActionScript 3.0 and Windows 11. It seems to work when exported in the swf, but playing the audio in the timeline and library seems to do nothing (Sidenote, but my symbols won't play when I hit the play button in the library too. Don't know if these two issues are linked or not). My audio is set on stream as well, so scrubbing through it isn't working.

Not sure if my computer is the issue or the product itself, but I've been having this issue for a few days so any help is appreciated.

i had both users reset their animate preferences and they still could not import sound files that imported for me without problem.

there might be some os setting (eg, file permissions) causing the issue but that seems highly unlikely with windows.  with ventura it seemed plausible.

Really didn't want to resort to this but I ended up resetting my computer and now it seems to work.

I guess there was something in my settings that wasn't making it work, but it's fixed now I suppose.

Probably should note that I've checked my sound mixer to make sure Animate wasn't muted, I checked to see if I didn't accidentally mute sound in the control tab, I've tested the audio in the library by right clicking it and selecting properties and it worked (even though the little play button on the top right of the library won't work). Everything seems to be running just fine, so I'm really not sure what's wrong.

open the sound in audition and save as an either 8- or 16-bit sound at sample rates of 11, 22, or 44 kHz.  import into a new fla timeline, set to stream and test scrubbing.
