Can't access the brush library when using the pencil tool

Is there a reason I can't access the brush library when using the pencil tool? When using the line tool, I can access the brush library and use art brushes/pattern brushes/etc. But that option is grayed out for the pencil. 

Any idea what's up with that?

Doesn't sound right to me. Have you updated your graphic drivers by visiting the manufacturer's site?

You can't access the brush library when using the Pencil tool because the Pencil tool doesn't use the brush library. The brush library is only used by the Line, Pen, and Paint Brush tools.
