Can't Open SWF in Animate

I know nothing about Animate, but chatter seems to suggest that Animate is what to use to open a swf file. I can't figure it out. Getting errors. Any help?

      If you only want to view the SWF, and not export it to video, you should be able to right-click on the SWF and Open With, to see a list of applications that can play SWF. If you have Animate installed you should see entries for Flash Player. Start by trying the Flash Player that is the latest version.

      This was helpful! Opening using the right click worked, whereas using the file menu in Animate did not.
