Is it possible to control items lying on different frames of an FLA file from its document class?

there's not much to it, at least, nothing different than any other goto and as3:

gotoAndStop(20);
stage.invalidate();
this.addEventListener(Event.RENDER,ff);

function ff(e:Event):void{

//frame 20 instances can now be referenced

}
