How Do You Slow Down/Vary Speed in Animation

Hi,

I am using Flash CS4 and am working on a project where I am hand drawing an animation running across the screen.  I drew it in consecutive key frames.  Its too fast.  How can I slow it down or vary the speed?  I've tried adding blank frames between each drawing but its very time consuming.

This is all pretty new for me and I appreciate any help.

Thanks  Kate

Either lower the frame rate (fps) so that the playback is slower, or another option in frame by frame is to just space the frames out a little, so there is a new frame every other frame etc.

It just takes a lot of experimenting to see which looks best.

Also making use of motion tweening over hand-drawn motions would give you a lot more control in speed speed and change with a lot of the work load cut down.

Have you tried using the motion editor with tween animations?  It's much better and you have more control.

Motion tweening is great but I had already drawn all of my frames.  Each frame shows a small change in the movement... a girl running and her arms and legs move a bit in each frame.

If I start a new layer and start with my first image I can motion tween it to the next position but I would like to replace that image with the next one that has the next forward motion.  If I pull in the second image that I had made into symbol it replaces both images with the new one.

Is there a way I can replace..for example..the second image with a new one without it replacing the first image also?
