There is a step to go to properties and add an effect, under frame but the options look completely different and I don't see anything like it anywhere.

Step 8 - You are not able to see 'Effect' option is because you have applied "motion tween" to your animation instead of "classic tween". You would have done this in step 6 where it suggests you to add motion by inserting classic tween. Hence re-do step 6 to solve this.

Step 7 - About selection of multiple frames, first click on frame 10 (without shift) -> then hold shift key -> followed by a click on frame 35. Doing it in the same order shouldn't cause any problem.

    Hi.

Can you specify which tutorial you are following? And can you also post some screenshots to let us know exactly what you're talking about?

The name is "icon animation" Its the pencil drawing steps 7 and 8. Also I tried some other tutorials and I think they are all based on older layouts. Thanks for responding.

On step 7 it would not allow me to shift click the frames 10 through 30, it kept highlighting frames 30 to 40 instead and on step 8 no such options exist.
