Importing Illustrator RGB gets washed out in Animate

Damn, STILL an issue, 4 years later? UGH... I'm trying to import from RGB Illustrator doc with layers set for all the parts of my animation. All the color dies when it comes in.... this is illustrator (v24.2.3):

And this is what it looks like in Animate (v20.5.1)... flat, washed out. Sigh.

I noticed my original Illustrator document was made as a "Print" document. Even after switching to RGB color space, my default swatches were described in CMYK. I made a NEW RGB Illustrator doc as "Art & Illustration" and default swatches were RGB. Import to Animate and it still converts to flat colors.

I did copy / paste from Illustrator to Animate. Same flat colors. Left is paste Illustrator file / Right is paste with conversion to bitmap. Same exact "copy" with 2 options on "paste". This makes me sad.

Copy / pasted a few layers to Photoshop, saved out as PNG files. Looks right in PSD, still makes flat color on import to Animate.

The only way the color stays "bright" is by letting Animate import as "import as a single bitmap image" turning the quality to garbage. The whole point of Flash (Animate) is being able to use vector graphics for small file sizes. I guess Adobe lost that in the rebranding?

There is no process to import the layers of an Illustrator file as layers into Animate without killing your color? There is no process to keep vectors and good RGB color? When ever a repetitive cycle is made to work around a basic issue, the software is failing. 4 years with a known issue? Adobe is failing.

Have you tried creating a brand new illustrator document that's RGB then taking the version that you created in the CMYK and pasting it into the RGB file? Then trying to copy and paste animate. What happens if you start a document in CMYK I've always found the illustrator has a hard time converting it over to RGB.

Hi, community, I have been using Google Web Designer to create HTML5 animated banners but we are moving over to Animate.  The same issue is occurring for me. When importing a native RGB Illustrator file with layers into Animate, the colours are dull and look like they are CMYK. I've tested importing to the stage, to the Library, and, cutting and pasting into Animate.  Has this problem ever been fixed? Would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hi.

Does this difference in color happen when you publish the content?

Change the color profile in Illustrator to sRGB, that is the best supported profile between apps and web content.

Go to Edit > Assing Profile... then try importing the file again.

Thank you all for the replies.

@Mario_CR  yes, I always use sRGB when creating assets for webs and apps. I checked my .ai file and does have the profile.

@JoãoCésar  it is when I Import to Animate.

@kglad thank you, I saw this thread...I was hoping the tip from Zaffer would work but to no luck.

If I find a workaround, I will post here, on the forum. Thank you.

Changing the colour profile in Illustrator to Emulate illustrator 6.0 seems to have a better result. I'm not sure how accurate these colours are, especially when using brand colours, but until this discrepancy is resolved by Adobe, it's what we have. Or a need to return to Google Web Designer for my builds. Thanks all. 🙂

@luciag81759536

My point is that if the colors look like how they were in Illustrator when you actually publish the content.

I'm asking this because I noticed a similar behavior in AS3 documents recently.

Hi Joao, gosh, thanks for letting me know.
I haven't published as yet, but I'll let you know if I see any colour issues.
