Question

My drawings show up behind my layers and not on my layers.

I open a new file, try to draw a line, or object and it does not show up on my layer. I have created new layers and tried...nothing shows up. As I close AN down, it closes my layers and I get a glimpse of the grey background and all my work is there.

What am I doing wrong? How can I get my work to show up in my layers?

Thanks for any advice to this probably simple solution.

The only "background" in Animate is a solid color that you set in the document properties. You can't draw on it. Everything goes in a layer. Everything. To find out which layer you're drawing in, hide all your layers, then un-hide them one at a time until your drawing appears.

Also make sure you're not doing something silly like drawing inside a group or symbol but thinking you're drawing directly on a layer.

When I launch Animate, I start a new file. I only have 1 layer. I select the shape tool and I draw a square. It doesnt show up. I draw a line. Nope, it is not there either. I see that my frame registers that it has something drawn on it because the dot turns solid. If I shut the program down, i get a glimpse of my layer disappearing and for a split second, i can see the square and line that I drew in the solid background.

Thanks for the reply. I may ust try a re-install.

Hi mate,

There have been plenty of complaints like yours - users reporting a white 'rectngle' covering their stage.

Some of them later reported that updating their OS and video drivers fixed the issue.
