I am a first time animation teacher but I have run into a problem. A number of my students are having issues animating with the bone tool and we need to get multiple layers to move together. How would I go about this. I would love to upload a file, but do not know how.
Thank You,
Karn Gustafson

I do not have the layer parenting option. I have updated to the most recent version and still cannot find the option to turn layer parenting on. Attached is the screen shot. Can you tell me what I am missing?

Is this feature only available in the 2019 version? I am currently using 2018 and cannot upgrade as I have the educational license.

The Bone tool places each object (symbol) into the same armature layer. Unfortunately the tool doesn't allow you to maintain layers. But as Joseph mentioned, the new Layer Parenting feature may be a better, more intuitive animation tool for your students.

Hmmm that doesn't sound right. I don't know officially why or if it's true but I can't imagine an education license would prevent you from upgrading to the current versions of Adobe software. Is this a limitation set by your IT department?

Yes. It's one of the new features of the latest version.
