Troubles with Symbols (adobe animate)

Hi!

I'm fairly new to using symbols/adobe's puppeting/rigging system.
I know in order to parent items they have to be symbols (as far as I am aware) but I've noticed anytime I try to clear keyframes Animate crashes.

Also, if I try to transform the symbols all together using the shift key to select multiple layers to do so.. the symbols for some reason delete themselves completely.

Also. if this info is needed: The symbols are all imported PNG drawings used for my puppet.
P.S. I tried uninstalling adobe etc and rebooting but no luck.

For anyone that may find this post in the future: note that Adobe contacted me and has defined that their puppeting layer system is a bit glitchy. If you can combine pieces of your puppet do it and if all else fails use the "break apart" option 🙂

There are too many unknowns to even guess what could be causing your issues.

It could be the PNGs, bugs with bitmap support in general which is quite limited in Animate, bugs with Layer Parenting, of which there are many, a combination of these, or something else.

As a general advice I'd suggest you leave the PNGs for later and start exploring Animate and symbols by creating simple vector artwork within Animate. Once you get to a point that you know what you're doing and how things behave with simple vectors, you will be able to trouble-shoot and introduce bitmaps in the workflow.

Hello, I definitely appreciate the advice but I cannot leave the PNGs... This is for my senior thesis film. I've never had this happen before haha its very... strange.

    Thank you
