Trying to import a short video into beginning of project. but it can't read the files

It does this not matter what file format I try.  And it tells me this for multiple different files

I am a beginner, so i may be doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out and don't have much hair left.

file> import> import to stage> open and it gives me this message every time.

I am probably leaving out something stupid since I'm just starting to use this program, please help
