The outline of a character in the video below is like it was drawn by hand (line is animated). Can u plz explain how to create this?

Hi.

There's also an extension on Adobe Exchange that will help you achieve this effect.

I worked on "Squigglevision" back in the day - Dr. Katz (Comedy Central) and Home Movies (Cartoon Network) and we initially used Autodesk's Animator Pro on DOS machines (google that kids) and eventually Flash V4 when it was released because it supported audio. We typically redrew our outlines by hand. At one point we recorded a macro that used a "smear" tool in Animator Pro to disrupt the initial drawing over 5 frames.

In Animate, redrawing with onionskin on will give you the most control - or you could draw your image, hit F6 to insert a keyframe containing the copy of the drawing and select all, click the "smooth" tool. But that will only get you so far across multiple keyframes.

If you draw using the pencil tool (strokes), you can insert keyframes and use the Selection tool to push/pull your lines to create the effect.

Hi mate,

This is usually called 'boiling linework' and is usually done by 'optimizing' the line and looping through a bunch of states during holds.

So you copy your existing outline to a new frame and you apply some smoothing to it.

That's all.

Of course, if you want better control, you just redraw every time.
