hi,

i need to import polish text into my flashapplication. i load the text from an external xml file.
so far anything i try fails to display the special characters.

when i hardcode the text, it works, but this is no option...

two more things: i have to create the textfield dynamically ( createTextField(); ), and the font has to be embedded.

can someone point me to the solution of this problem???
any help is appreciated!

thanks
marcin

hi,

here a solution that worked for me:
i just had to change the language and localization settings in windows, and than flash would take the right codebase of the font...

Is there any reason you can't use UTF-8 encoding for the external file? Flash plays well with that. Other than that I'm not sure there is a solution.

Will this file be played only on Polish language operating systems? In that case useCodePage=true might help, but I'm really not sure.

hi Rothrock,

yeah, it could be so easy... but the player doesn't show the extra characters, when i embed the font.
if i would use system fonts only, no problem.
but i have fade ins/outs and for this i need to embed the font.

thx
