Good day! During my 'Corona Cleaning', I came across an old version of Audition 3.0. It is/was shrinkwrapped and has a seriel number.
1.) When I installed, it prompted me to activate over the internet. I got a message that said: "Audition Server Unavailable".
2.) When I called the phone number to activate by phone, the recording said they do not allow activation by phone anymore. And led me to this page: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/activate-deactivate-products.html
3.) I went to my free Adabe account, and made sure my account listed Adobe Audition 3.0 with the seriel number.
4.) I still get the message in the software that my 'trial' will end in 30 days.
Can someone suggest a way to use this software, and get it activated?

There are any number of threads about this, as a search would reveal - typically this one. The page they linked you to only tells a very limited version of the real situation - which is that Adobe were forced by their legal department to remove the freely downloadable Audition 3 that worked (the only version that did), for reasons that we are not allowed to discuss. And also, they didn't tell you that this page only applies to CS apps - and Audition 3 wasn't one. Audition isn't a CC app either - which is why having it listed in the CC app makes no difference; that's just a convenience.
If you look around, you might find the workable version of Audition 3, along with its one-off serial number - but that's your only chance of getting it going. The copy you have is useless.

I DO have a serial number.

The whole point is that your serial number won't work. Neither will your copy of the software - as I said, that's useless. The only version that can be got to work is the unlocked one with its unique unlock code, and that's the one you have to track down.

Hi Steve, can you help please? I have Audition 3 (original CDROM, etc) and tried to install it today on win 10, but of course the activation servers are down. I checked my backup drive and found I have another version of audition called "ADBEAudition_ESD1_WWEFGJIS.exe"; but my original serial number doesn't seem to work. Can you advise in some way please? Thanks, Shaun

Hi Steve, quick correction - I do have the serial number...it seems I don't have the patch that seems to be required. Can you help please? Shaun

Well, I think you have the correct 'other' version, and it's no secret that the Serial Number to unlock it is 1137-1004-8571-6848-7845-8029. But that is all you need to get it going; installing the patch isn't that straightforward IIRC - you have to do something strange, and I believe that there's more info on this in the Audition 3 FAQ. But as I said, it should work without it. If you really want to try to install the patch, I can tell you that it's called audition301.zip and it is still in the Adobe ftp site, along with the Amplitude Statistics and graphic phase shifter updates/fixes. There's a thread about how you access this (it's perfectly legal) but you'll have to explore the paths yourself to locate them - they are in the same directory. You need an ftp package to do this - it doesn't work properly (or indeed at all) from most browsers.
And before anybody asks - no, the free version of Audition 3 isn't in there - just the patches. It's a useful thing to be able to access this though - not because of anything to do with Audition 3, but because it's also the way to download all of the original Loopology stuff - not just the limited amount that shows on the website.
