adobe audition direct2d drawbot error

Community Beginner ,
Oct 31, 2018 Oct 31, 2018

I get the following error when I try to do almost *anything* in Audition - rendering it useless.

I'd be very grateful if anyone had a solution or even some further info on how to fix this. I'm on a Windows PC - 64bit.

Thanks

Could it also possibly be a graphics card and/or driver problem? Perhaps if you are running the latest version of Audition it would be worth turning on or off the 'Use hardware acceleration for drawing' option in Audition's General preferences page.

That's really a Windows API error (that's what the Drawbot is), not an Audition one. But that doesn't directly make it either Windows or Adobe's fault; in fact it's rather hard to tell at all. There are ways to reinstall it, according to M$, but I get the impression that if it isn't present, Adobe should install it anyway as part of a normal installation process. So it might be broken...

Initially, I'd uninstall and reinstall Audition. If that doesn't fix it, then you have to look a little more closely at a Microsoft solution.

perfect, have the latest driver installed, but needed to turn this option off to get rid of the problem. Excellent.

Thanks Steve. I thought that it might be something like this. I'm going to look at the drivers as I'm not sure this (work) machine is running as it should, tbh. In the meantime, ryclark's solution *seems* to have sorted it for now. Cheers.

@ryclark That seems to have fixed it for now. I didn't even know Audition had a hardware acceleration option. Thanks so much.
