Hi! I'm new to using Adobe apps, including Adobe Audition. I keep running into a problem when trying to open saved Multisession files (.sesx). I keep getting an error message "the byte stream type of the given URL is unsupported" when I try to open these files. Thankfully I am just practicing and haven't lost any significant work, but I have to get around this problem before I try to do anything else in Audition. It's does it with every .sesx file I save and try to open. I have zero problem opening waveform files and other single track files, whether recorded in Audition or somewhere else. For the .sesx files, I'm using the newest version of Audition and recorded the individual tracks inside that version. I have also tried using files created elsewhere just to see if it makes a difference, and I get the same result. I have already read the threads related to this problem, but haven't seen a solution that gets around creating a corrupted file in the first place. I don't have a file to share as I keep deleting them and trying again. I feel like maybe I'm doing something wrong during the file saving process inside Audition. I thought all you had to do was save it to a folder on your computer as long as it was saved in .sesx format. I do always mark yes when it asks to save files located outside the session, if that matters at all. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I've moved this from the Using the Community forum (which is the forum for issues using the forums) to the Audition forum so that proper help can be offered.

The byte stream type of the given URL? Unusual!
I'm assuming that this is happening on a PC. It sounds to me very much like the file association for session files (.sesx) means that your internet browser is trying to open them when you click on them. Go to file explorer, find a session file and right-click on it. Select Properties, and look at the general tab, where it says 'Opens with', make sure that it's the current version of Audition that's selected. If that's not it, we'll have a rethink...

Thanks for the suggestion. It didn't work, but it made me realize that I've been trying to open the files from file explorer this whole time. It seems that I can open it with no issue directly from Audition instead. I'm not sure why that's the case. I tend to keep the folders I'm working on open on my desktop so that I don't have to constantly navigate to the right place, but at least I know I'm not losing everything I work on and save now! Thanks!

Well something's a bit odd - you should be able to open a session directly from File Explorer without any difficulty. The only other reason for it not working that I can presently think of is that it might not if the session was stored under a different user name - that would probably do it.
