All static after saving!!

I spent hours recording & editing an audiobook chapter. I saved & closed the WAV form (44100/24), rebooted the computer, and now upon opening the file to listen back - it's horrible white noise/static throughout.

The WAV form looks normal; other WAV files from this same project open without an issue.

Please help!!

I'm going to take a bit of a guess here - but I think you've probably opened the .pkf file for the wav by mistake. That certainly fits the symptoms... 😉

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm positive it's a WAV file. Says so in 'properties' and it opens like a WAV file (pkf's always give me an error message). I can't do a screenshot on this forum, but it 100% looks like any other WAV file I open.

The forum suppports screenshots just fine - you just use 'insert photos' and upload them. More to the point though, can you provide a link to a short extract of it? (The one thing you can't do on the forum is post audio!)

I've had a similar problem a few times. Only thing I could figure was that I saved in 24-bit when it should've been 16 bit. I wish I had better news for you, but whenever that happened to me, it ruined the file and I had to start over. Unreal. Knowing how unreliable it is, I'd regularly save and check it while editing long files.

I'm getting the static noise when I save any document, including PDFs, when logging on to my PC, YouTube videos, etc.. This started happening after Adobe updates. It does it even with speakers off. Very annoying. Checked all of my sound settings.

You've posted to the Adobe Audition forum, but your problem is, apparently to do with saving any document, including PDFs.

Hence, I'm really not sure that this is anything to do with Audition, or do you have Audition installed and this problem is occurring when you attempt to save a document with Audition open? If not, I really cannot see that this is an Audition problem, but I am happy to be corrected!
