Hi there, I have a large movie soundtrack session (19 Min.) with 40 tracks and effects etc. - It all worked well until I restarted the session today to make some edits. Now when I press "play" the status line says "playing" and audition freezes. Only a force quit can help. - I did a restart of all equipment, I checked my audio hardware (Volt 4 by Universal audio)
I checked the audio settings which says "Volt 4" for I/O and the clock, I tried to change the buffer size: nothing helped. - What can I do? I'm glad for any advice. (I'm using a Macbook Pro M2, running OS ventura)

Preface: I don't have a Mac.
But if the transport fails in Audition, it invariably means that for whatever reason, there is no correct connexion between it and the sound device. In other words, both can be fine but the link between them has failed. In this case, I believe that the link is the aggregator in the Mac. So if I was going to start anywhere, that's where I'd look - is the sound device aggregated correctly?
And if you've had to force a stop, do you get an Audition crash log? Available from the Help menu, and it will say 'crash' in its title. If you do, can you post the text from it into this thread? It should say specifically why this has happened.

Thanks for the fast answer, SteveG.. Well, it is interesting, that in the waveform editor the audio works as expected, so the connection seems to be working. Switching back to Multitrack it does not. - What I found in the "Audition Log" is:
Ticks = 153877 <66931 (main)> <signal> <4> OnForceQuit
{
errorCode: "15"
errorDescription: "SIGTERM"
sendingProcess: "loginwindow"
willCrash: "false"
}
Ticks = 153878 <66931 (main)> <signal> <4> Unhandled signal!
{
signal: "15"
}
What ever that means....

by the way, I reinstalled audition... with no effect

Have a look at this: resolve configuration errors
In view of the message you've got, you might want to try reloading the CCapp, because that's where the loginwindow sending process goes, I believe. Why is this happening at all? I have no idea, but I do know that having the CCapp out of date has certainly caused registration issues before. Why in Multitrack and not Waveform? Well that's a new one on me!

well, many thanks and I did as written on the site you sent to me ... unfortunately with no effect. It still won't play.
At the status bar (left bottom corner) it says "playback will be rendered" than "playing" than nothing. Sometimes it shows some levels on the tracks, then freeze. - The audio interface works fine with any other audio app I have like protools, reaper, logicpro ...
