associated keyframes to the clips, not the timeline

Hi!

Sorry for multiple posts, I'm not very familiar with this community. This should be a feature request. I love to work with a DAW controller and Audition (Win10 Pro + CC 23), I get better results for complex projects with this combination. But as I see now, we can't move the keyframes associated to the clip in the multitrack view. It seems that the keyframes ar asscociated to  the timeline, not the clip, wich I think is some kind of nonsense.

As it seems that there's know way to get the keyframes associated to their clips I would suggest that Adobe solves this problem. Other way I won't pay for the one year license after the trial period ends.

Thanks!

These are user to user forums, so it is highly unlikely that any Adobe staff will respond here, even assuming they have seen your original post, sorry!

Hi Adobe!

Nothing to say about this request? If I pay 300 euros/year I'd like to have a really strong DAW. The problems with working with Audition and a DAW controller I've been talking in January still persist and it would be great to know that you're working on it. Otherwise I wouldn't see any reason to rent this software again, can't see a lot of progress compared to CS6. Quite sorry to say that.

Thanks!

Thanks for your answer. I thought Adobe would be receptive to user suggestions and the topic "feature requests".

Clearly you haven't checked out the new release - you can manipulate clip markers in Multitrack view now. This had nothing to do with your request; it's been in development for a while.

Thank you. SteveG, but it's not posible to manipulate the keyframes with the clip on the timeline. If I move the clip on the timeline, the volume stays were it is. The envelope seems to be asociated to the timeline, not to it's clip. But this doensn't make any sence.

We're talking about the keyframes in the volume envelope that correspondent with the DAW-controller, not the volume-line in the clip. Here's an example. This issue still exists and makes it quite dificult to work with Auditon and any DAW-controler.

If you put volume or pan keyframes onto a clip, and then move the clip, they move with it. If you put volume and pan keyframes onto the track, (i.e, the timeline) they stay where they are when you move clips. For several reasons, I really wouldn't want track keyframes to move with clips - not the least of them being that if you have multiple clips on a track, then there's no direct relationship between any of them and the track itself - they can all be slid about and either extended or contracted. So to my mind, there's no way you can link these completely free objects to the timeline in any meaningful way to a fixed event on the track itself. Even if you said that you only wanted the clip move to pick up the track events directly aligned with it, you've still got a problem with extending and contracting the clip. And that's without even considering the chaos that could cause with effects...

I'd be the first to admit that it isn't a perfect system but with it the way it is, I'm afraid that I don't see any realistic alternative arrangement you could make currently. And I suspect that the devs are probably looking at it that way too. Making major changes to Audition has always been fraught with difficulty, and they're pretty reluctant to do anything that would fundamentally alter its working.

Well Steve, it's imposible to work with the keyframes in the volume line on the clip and a DAW-Controller. Of course you can work with the volume on the clip, but that's without a DAW controller.

The thing about having multiple clips at the same point I don't understand. Each track has it's own volume envelope for  the DAW controller, each envelope works only with the volume for it's own track. I think it's obvious that if you have to move the clip in a track, p.ex. after you deleted something in the project, you also want to move the volume keyframes in the same track.

It's a pitty, for a moment I thought, you could give me an advice how to get Audition work with a DAW-controler, but this seems still quite dificult. Unless we accept that this is not an issue, it's a feature... 😉

I also think that in many ways, the only real resolution would be to get rid of track keyframing altogether, and have the whole automation system applying only to clips (ie, not just volume and pan). At least that would remove the ambiguities...

( I rewrote the bit about clips on tracks, because it wasn't clear what I meant - you may have read the previous version)

Yes, in fact, I wrote the previous version. 😉 You're right, it would be quite clearer if this would be applied only to clips.

I apreciate a lot your disponibility to help always, SteveG! I think you've been already here in the time of Syntrillium. Thanks!
