Running Audition on MacBook Pro + Yosemite - 2 yrs old.

Can't seem to get Audition to run either using in-built device audio (stand alone on laptop)

OR, now, with Apogee Duet interface (which was working before)

I am unschooled in tech-speak, so please talk slowly...

thanks in advance

Andrew

There are two places where audio devices can be setup in OS X and Audition.  The first is to check that OS X recognizes the device by opening Applications > Utilities > Audio & MIDI Setup.app

The other is inside Audition, letting it know which available audio devices to use.  Launch Audition and from the Adobe Audition CC item in the menu bar, select Preferences.  Then select Audio Hardware and make sure the Default Output option is set to the device you wish Audition to play through.

Please feel free to share a screenshot of either or both of those windows if you need further troubleshooting.  (Screenshots can be captured by pressing SHIFT+COMMAND+3 and are saved to your desktop.)
