I just upgraded to Audition 2020 and all of my custom effects racks are empty. This has happened with past updates and is extremely frustrating. I already looked in the documents folder and it is empty. Is there any way to recover these?

If you are talking about Effects Rack presets that you've saved, these are stored in a file called EffectsPresets.xml - this is in the appdata section of your user identity if you're using Windows, and it's normally hidden, but it's pretty easy to spot the path when you get in. If you have nothing saved in what's being referred to as 'Audition 2020' (although it's Audition 13 in the appdata) as far as effects presets are concerned, then move the existing file to a new location outside the folder, and replace it with the one from the previous version and they should appear when you re-open the program.
Normally, if it's just a version upgrade, these get transferred anyway upon installation. There could well be circumstances under which this doesn't happen, but I'd have to enquire about that. Oh, and nothing of any consequence to the running of Audition is stored in your Documents folder - that would be far too easy!

Thanks for the quick response, Steve. I'm running on a Mac, Catalina 10.15.2.
You're right, I am referring to presets that I've saved in the past. This upgrade to v13 (2020) has left my saved preset racks empty.
Where would I find the .xml file on a Mac?
Thanks!

I don't have a Mac, but I believe that the path to the folder is this: /Users/{username}/Library/Preferences/Adobe/Audition/{version no}

Hi SteveG!
(Not sure if you saw my repy below?) I should have rather done it here.
I stumbled upon this post thread and was wondering if you can assist along the same lines?
We have a main recording studio/office with Audition (latest release 14.0 & CC update) as well 3 producers who are working from home and we want the same workflow. BUT, they all have Audition 12.0 and 13.0 with the old Creative Cloud (not updated) as we have noticed this issue before.
Now, when my team sent me their custom 12.0 EffectsPresets.xml file I replaced my studio 14.0 version file with it (in the above mentioned correct folder), restarted, and then all the chains do appear - Yay! HOWEVER, those specific custom chains don't load when selected? The default Audition template chains still load fine. This seems to be a separate problem right?
So far, what I have tried installing the 13.0 version but the same result. Failing which I wanted to do the 12.0 version but this version isn't available with the newest version of Creative Cloud. So I am completely stuck.
I would be very very thankful if you could assist me around this.
Thanks
Ruan

Going forward with imports usually works. If you are saying that 14.0 presets still work then it doesn't sound like you've managed to replace the folder correctly - or you have a protected folder where anything that gets changed during a session gets changed back again afterwards - some places do this deliberately. Also you need to make sure that you are running with administrator rights - not doing that can cause all sorts of wierd things to happen. But beyond that I have no idea what's happening, because I don't have your machine in front of me. The ideal solution would be for all of you to be using the same version, of course...
