hallo
I have desktop pc 2009 with gigabyte motherboard EP43 and onboard audio but all runs well, audition or ANY other trial of a daw worked well RECORDING sound on win7 64 bit, but nothing possible on win10 or win 11
been trying for 3 weeks,
solution ? ??? put NO input makes that I can not record sound, either from a file on the desktop, or from a cassettedeck, there is NO microphone on this pc nor attached
in the NO input suggestion I can open a sound file and play it, I can not record in this case, logically if there is no input ,no stereomix,no line in then no signal in the output
solution ? ???privacy security allow microphone access ON and allow apps to use microphone ON
yes then there is no MME I can record BUT immediately a very severe reverb almost echo appears
I work with professional headphones so as there is no microphone there must in this case be a feedback in the system
choosing wasapi or asio no difference
so no solutions these socalled solutions
I have tried many trial versions of older auditions as far back as audition 1.5 ,but same problems on a daw like soundforge NO such problems on windows 7 64 bit
I only have trials that I picked up online to test them but I do have cooledit 2.1 that I bought from syndtrillium long time ago, works ok on win7
guido from belgium europe 70 years old,I am reasonably good in computers but no expert, but experts often disappoint me !!!! they know much less than I expected,

I'm not surprised that you have feedback - you are trying to record using the 'Stereo Mix' setting, rather than the mic input directly. If you use Stereo Mix, then everything else happening will get fed back - with a latency delay - to your recorded input where it will promptly be re-recorded.
So you need to alter the Windows record settings so that it's only the mic (or whatever is plugged into whatever input you have) gets recorded.

Dear Mister Steve
thank you for your speedy reply
1 no reverb feedback on win7 and in this case all well directly with line in and ----stereomix----
2 of course I also tried line in default
see printscreens
can not record,same problem !!
thank you for your patience,

You should look at the line in Properties and make sure that the input configuration is set the same as the Audition input configuration for recording. So they should both be set to either 44.1k or 48k. If you don't do that, you will very likely not be able to record (which is probably why it says 'unavailable'). You may also like to try taking the check out of 'Use Machine-specific Device Defaults' - that could also cause a conflict.

Dear Sir
thank you for your suggestion
line in properties 16 bit 48Khz no choice for 32 here
recording 32 bit 48 Khz changing it to 16 , 24 of 32 float changed nothing
"machine specific "was default activated, makes no difference on or off
still the same error
these things are difficult, I cannot look inside the chip ,
I am too stupid to understand this, on win7 with the very same hardware pc no problem
so it must be the os , I already mailed to bill gates but he had no interest in mailing me since he was on
his 120 meter length yacht in monte carlo talking to some arabian sheik about a giant deal to rip us off
but he promised he would change windows 11 back to windows 7 just to please me,what a nice man
so modest,so simple,what a really nice man
and then I fell out of my bed and realized my expectations were just a nice dream

Dear Sir
I have macrium reflect backups for win7 ,10 ,11
so in 7 minutes I can switch between systems
I now made the same recordings with an older audition CC 2015 trial because I cannot install the latest on win7,is only for win10 and 11
but recordings NO problem both in stereomix and line in
perfect ,so why here no signal feedback leading to reverb and even echos
I again connected my cassettedeck and tried both either stereomix and line in and in both cases I hear the cassette sound on my hearphones and is visible in audition cc 2015 and recording nicely
this material is difficult to understand because I as a simple man and not a sound engineer do not understand the diagram switching inside the chips
with a normal mixing apparatus of the older days this is easier to understand, signals coming in from various sources, mixers with preamps, those I understand because I was a simple electronics amateur fooling around in my little lab with the various tools of the trade, not commercial but just for my own fun all this 1990
so if I post all this I also do this so that others might learn, question the problem and perhaps help me my poor soul
I can of course always revert to win7,the recordings I do from my revox B77 recorder and cassette deck are only family member recordings, people long dead
not music, so digitizing them is almost done, 95% but it should also work on win 10 and 11 for the present generation
and the same problem with a trial of soundforge ,on win10 and 11 same problems, not on win7
so it is not adobe product,it is the OS made by mister rich bill gates
I bought win7 for 25 dollars from an american on ebay for 20 dollar in 2009, last year only I updated to win10 pro all for free, and updated to win11 pro all for free
so this is on the cheap and not stolen software by the way !!!!!!!!
and have been making backups with macrium reflect to freeze them in time
