Audition Playback randomly mutes sound on track

I have on my Win-10 based laptop, beweset Audition a 25-tracks project and when I play it back, then randomly on some tracks (bass / piano / etc) a light noise appears and the original sound is gone.

  • The playhead moves forward
  • When I replay the part by moving the playhead back, then the sound is there
  • Audio-specs: in and output are the same
  • When I export, then the noise and lack of track-suond is always on the same place of the exported file
  • It's an onboard MIME soundcard
  • Drivers and Audition are up tio date
  • Laptop is restarted
  • I clicked with my heels
  • No other programs are active

Can this be caused by the VST plugins that I use?

Usually when something like that happens with a plugin, it means that it's the unregistered version...

Yes it could, but we'd need a lot more information about your session and the effects you are using to determine exactly what is happening. If you try pre-rendering the tracks with the effects, does the same thing happen? Whatever is causing this, it doesn't sound hardware-related, and somehow I doubt whether clicking your heels made a lot of difference... 😉

and in addition: there is some compression and EQ on the tracks that do this. Other tracks don't

Are these Audition's native effects, or external ones?

If you remove the external VSTs and just use the native ones, does the same thing happen?

Yes it has something to do with the VST's: I only play 1 track with 2 VST's (EQ abd Bass-optimizer) and when I both switch them off, then the track sounds continously. When one of them is switched on, then the track randomly stops giving sound and only a white noise is heard. The playhead moves. When I check this against the workload, then only the network seems to have peaks during the white noise. No processorpeaks, no GPU peaks, only network peaks.

I will check the provider of the plugins what this can mean. In the meanwhile I will copy my project to another PC where I will continue testing, thank you so far.
