Audition Suddenly Started Freezing Up Every Minute or Two?

Engaged ,
May 25, 2020 May 25, 2020

This just started happening in the past few weeks. Every couple of minutes, Audition freezes and I have to close and restart it. I have not done anthing different or installed new plugins or anything.

I saw one thread about freezing up, but tghe solution in there about saving effect presets or something didn't seem applicable to me.

What can I do to fix this?

Thanks!

Ken

I got this solved! It was my Korg Keyboard. Adobe support found it after telling me to do the following: "The next time this happens and Audition is in the frozen state, please press CTRL+ALT+DELETE and select “Task Manager”. Then locate the “Adobe Audition.exe” process, right-click on it, and select “Create dump”.  This will save the memory state of the application to a file that can be loaded in a debugger."

I uploaded that to Google Drive for them to look at and he said it pointed to a Korg k

The only thing I can recommend from experience is Process Monitor - free from Microsoft - whose fault this almost certainly is...  You should be able to work out what's stealing all the processing power with it. Also it's worth doing a search for information about optimising Windows for audio - there's quite a lot you can do there, and it's all going to help.

This is of course assuming that you are using a PC rather than a Mac...

Thanks Steve. I downloaded Process Monitor and I really am not sure what I'm looking at :-P. Nothing looks out of the ordinary. And I can use RX with no problems, and likewise with Reaper and Photoshop. No other program is freezing up. I'm going to try doing a CleanMyPC and then probably uninstall Audition and reinstall it and see how that goes.

Well there are now additional reasons for me to get a bit suspicious about this. Further enquiries will be made next week...

I uninstalled and reinstalled Audition after restarting my computer and still. It won't stay open for even a full minute before it freezes. I'm afraid I'm going to have to just move to using RX. Well, that is what I HAVE to do now.

I have the same issue but sadly no Korg to unplug. I am wondering if it could be to do with having LoopBack installed but that doesn't seem to make a lot of sense. I also use a mac so can't do the same nifty short cut to finding the issue. Would love some help as it is making the software that I use for work nearly unuseable.
