Batch processing multiple files through external gear. How?

Hello,

I would like to process a batch of audio stems using an external tube compressor. I am looking for a solution to either:

  1. Add external gear (send and return) to the effects rack and process the audio in real-time.
  2. Automate the playback of a list of files and record the processed signal back in.

I have thousands of files that need processing, so an automated solution would be ideal.

Any assistance or recommendations on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Alex

You can't directly do no. 2, but it's certainly possible to send a signal from a track in Multitrack to the outside world, process it and have it return to another track where you record it. To do this, you do need a sound device that accepts multiple inputs, though.

As far as no. 2 is concerned, playing the files out is relative easy - the player will do this, although you have to put markers around each file, and import those into the player. But you'd have to record the results on a separate app; Audition doesn't support recording the output of the playlist.
