can i have multiple audio on several tabs?

hi

i'm running audition cc last version under w10 pro 64bit

i open several audio files , 8 audio files to be exact

can i have these 8 files on 8 tabs?

right now i have 1 tab with my audio and on the second tab mixer

to switch between my audio loaded i have use ctrl+tab or right click on tab and select the audio i want to edit

can i have for example 3 or 4 audio tabs ?

i don't know if tab is the correct english word

for tab i mean

Within the Editor screen you can have only one tab open at a time, i.e only one file "active" in the Editor screen.  In order to switch between different files there is no alternative to opening and closing them using the method you've mentioned, or by simply double-clicking on the file name of the one you wish to work on.  The current state of the file that was previously opened will be written to your designated Audio Temp drive but not "saved" until you choose the option to Save, Save all or Save as.

I guess an alternative is to open all 8 files on 8 tracks of the multitrack screen and simply select the one you wish to work with by soloing its track.  I've never tried this but I think it should be possible.  The only thing you would have to remember is, once you have finished work on your 8 tracks you would need to export them individually in order to "save" the new version(s).

I usually have the Files panel open on the left so that I can just double click on the file in the list to select the one I want to edit.

This is indeed the correct answer - but it's worth pointing out that this is more flexible than tabs, as each file has a twirl-down, allowing you to access individual channels of a file (automatically muting the others), and you couldn't do that with just a tab view.
