Can't get signal with my brand-new USB converter cable...

Hi everyone,

I'm a new Audition user and I'd like to plug in my AT2020 mike with this particular USB converter cord. The cord blinks when I plug it in, indicating that there's some sort of data, signal, or information running through it. When I select it in Audio Hardware Preferences, I believe it's showing up as USB PnP Sound Device. But so far no signal when I hit record. Please advise! Thank you.

Unfortunately the AT2020 is a condenser mic that requires 48 volts phantom power to work. This USB adapter cable doesn't provide this. You will need a much better USB audio interface with a proper mic preamp and phantom power to be able to use this or similar mics with Audition. You have posted this question to the Captivate forum, but it looks like you want to have it on the Audition forum. I will move it.

Wow, that's interesting. The Behringer unit you referenced is pretty inexpensive and fine for voiceover work. It seems like a good option. I had heard the AT2020 was a USB mike and ordered it as such, only to find no USB interface on it. Ugh... Well, I'm sure this will work!

Thank you.

There is a USB version of the AT2020 called AT2020USBi. But probably you are better off anyway with a standard XLR mic and separate USB interface. USB mics can cause monitoring and other problems.
